The Seedy Seeds don't know you, but they already like you. With a completely original sound and presentation, including banjo, accordion and toy keyboard beats, The Seedy Seeds create upbeat, melodic, danceable indie music that is equally at home alongside pop-punk, alt-country, and lo-fi.

The concept for the band was born of a casual conversation in late 2005, in which Mike and Margaret hypothesized performing as a group with the instruments they owned but hadn’t yet learned to play. The Seedy Seeds began writing, performing, and recording music shortly thereafter. Brian joined in 2008 following the release of Count The Days, on which he contributed supplemental percussion.

I don't think that was the greatest Seedy seeds show ever, or at least I hope not. The band got a very positive preview write-up in the Citybeat and I think that brought out a hipster crowd who wants to be thought of as being "in the know." But once the show started, the band really didn't seem to hold our attention, participation, or attendance all that well. The Loyal Divide band bfore them got the crowd swaying and moving forward way better that the Ss did. People were heading to the door at a fairly rapid clip when I left. In the band's defense, it was very hot in there, the sound kept sending surges of insane bass blasts out randomly, and the banjo seemed to be having a "bad tuning" day. Overall, I thought the band worked hard to entertain us with well written songs, but in my book, the substitution of a rhythm machine for a bass guitarist and the morphing of live drums into the sound of a cheesy drum machine screams "Holiday Inn circuit," I don't care how many working class/Northside plain white t's and retro eyeglasses they want to wear. I watched that drummer warm up and he is a monster! Cut him loose on acoustic drums, and watch the crowd begin to pogo!
