It’s been two years since River Whyless released A Stone, A Leaf, An Unfound Door and three years since the band recorded the dreary Folk masterpiece in its roving home studio. With alternating male and female lead vocals, gorgeous violin work and just the right amount of banjo in its music, the group is not yet catering to that bigger, poppier Folk scene. Since their debut, the North Carolina natives have toured its startling and haunting brand of Folk extensively. The band recently announced it had hit the studio with Kevin Ratterman (Andrew Bird, Ben Sollee). This is a good thing. New music can’t come soon enough.
